Organic Reaction Pathways
Organic molecules undergo the following types of reactions:
- substitution
- addition
- oxidation
- condensation (or esterification)
- combustion
- polymerisation
It is a requirement that you are able to identify the type of reaction if given an equation and also recall the reaction pathways to forming esters from alkanes or alkenes. This includes remembering catalysts and reactants required.
Good summary of ester formation pathways required for VCE course is covered in this video.
